Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how GlossPage ("we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the GlossPage application ("App" or "Service"). GlossPage is designed to minimise data collection. The App does not require an account, does not show ads, does not use tracking cookies, and does not sell user data.
The App does not ask for your name, email address, location, or account details. However, screenshots, images, PDFs, captured Webtoon and Manga pages, recognised text, support emails, and optional Online Translation requests may contain personal information. This policy explains when that information stays on device and when it may be transmitted.
1. Who We Are
GlossPage is operated from Austria. For GDPR purposes, we are the data controller for any personal data processed in connection with the Service.
Contact details:
- General enquiries: [email protected]
- Support and privacy requests: [email protected]
2. Local Processing by Default
By default, GlossPage processes screenshots, photos, PDFs, captured Webtoon and Manga pages, OCR output, translations, and translation history on your device. The App uses Apple's on-device Vision framework for OCR and Apple's on-device translation framework for local translation.
When you use local processing, your source images, PDF files, captures, recognised text, translated results, and history stay on your device unless you choose Online Translation or send information to us in a support email.
3. Optional Online Translation
Online Translation is optional and requires GlossPage Pro or an active Welcome Pass. When enabled, GlossPage sends recognised text blocks to a translation service so the requested image or PDF text can be translated online. The App does not send the original screenshot, image, Webtoon or Manga capture, or PDF file for Online Translation.
Online Translation requests may include recognised text block IDs and text, source and target language, provider, request type, image or PDF-page surface, page number, page count, document character estimates, request/page estimates, quota-session state, session token state, and related quota information. Responses may include translated text blocks, provider/model information, usage estimates, and quota status.
Online Translation also uses service metadata needed to authenticate, prevent abuse, and operate subscription quotas. This may include StoreKit authentication data, subscription tier and environment, pseudonymous user identifiers, Welcome Pass trial state, app version, build number, device model, locale, time zone, hashed install IDs, hashed App Attest or DeviceCheck tokens where used, hashed IP address where used, request counts, input/output character or token counters, cost counters, quota events, quota sessions, daily limits, and circuit-breaker state.
Online Translation providers and infrastructure providers process this information only to provide, secure, meter, and operate the requested translation service. We do not use Online Translation content for advertising, tracking, user profiling, or sale to third parties.
4. Information We Do Not Collect Through the App
GlossPage does not collect the following through the App:
- Your name or profile information
- Your email address, unless you contact us by email
- Account credentials, because no account or registration is required
- Precise location data
- Advertising identifiers
- Tracking cookies
- Data for advertising or user profiling
5. Personal Information in User Content
GlossPage does not ask you to provide personal information in order to use the App. However, the images, text, or documents that you choose to process may contain personal information. For example, a document may contain a name, address, signature, invoice number, ID number, or medical, legal, or financial information.
If you use only local processing, this content stays on your device. If you choose Online Translation, recognised text blocks and related request metadata may be transmitted as described above. If you contact support, the content you include or attach to your email is transmitted through your email provider and received by us.
6. In-App Purchases and Subscriptions
GlossPage offers optional subscription plans that unlock additional features. Purchases, billing, renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled by Apple through the App Store.
- We do not collect, see, or store your credit card number, billing address, bank details, or other payment information.
- The App may use App Store receipt information to check whether your subscription is active.
- Subscription terms, pricing, automatic renewal, cancellation, and refund handling are governed by Apple's Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions on your iPhone, or by visiting support.apple.com/billing.
Apple's privacy practices for purchases are described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
7. Support Requests
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address and the content of your message. If you use an in-app support or "Email this example" flow, the email may include attached original and translated crops or screens, app version, build number, device model, iOS version, selected source and target language, selected provider or settings, status text, visible error messages, diagnostics, and an OCR decision trace file where available.
We use support information only to respond to your request, diagnose translation or OCR issues, improve the App, and handle any related privacy or technical issue.
Please avoid sending highly sensitive documents or personal information by email unless it is necessary for your support request.
Feedback emails
When you use the "Email this example" feature, the App opens your email client with pre-filled content. You decide whether to send the email and what to include. We receive your email at our support address and use it to improve the App. Like any email correspondence, you can request deletion at any time by contacting us at [email protected].
8. Diagnostic and Crash Data
If you have enabled "Share iPhone Analytics" in your iOS settings, Apple may collect crash reports and diagnostic information from your device and make related information available to us through Apple's developer tools.
This information is generally provided in a form that does not directly identify you. We use it only to identify bugs, fix crashes, and improve App stability. You can manage this setting at Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements on your iPhone.
9. How We Use Information
We use information only for the following purposes:
- To provide local OCR and translation on your device
- To provide Online Translation when you request it
- To authenticate StoreKit subscriptions and Welcome Pass sessions
- To estimate, enforce, and display Online Translation quotas
- To verify App Store subscription status
- To respond to support and privacy requests
- To diagnose crashes and improve App stability
- To comply with legal obligations where required
We do not use your data for advertising, tracking, user profiling, or sale to third parties.
10. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Data may be shared only in the following limited situations:
- Online Translation providers: recognised text blocks and translation request metadata may be sent when you request Online Translation.
- Infrastructure providers: hosting, database, security, and quota infrastructure may process service metadata needed to operate Online Translation.
- Apple Inc.: Apple handles App Store purchases, subscription management, and optional diagnostic reporting.
- Email providers: support emails and attachments are handled by the email services used to send and receive your message.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by applicable law or in response to a valid legal request from a court, public authority, or government agency.
11. Data Retention
GlossPage does not maintain a user account database. Translation history and exported documents are stored locally on your device under your control. You can delete your translation history in the App, or remove local App data by deleting the App.
Online Translation text blocks are transmitted to provide the requested translation. Service metadata, quota sessions, usage counters, subscription entitlement cache records, and Welcome Pass ledger records may be retained as needed to operate quotas, prevent abuse, troubleshoot the service, and maintain appropriate business records.
Support emails may be retained for as long as needed to handle the request and maintain appropriate business records. Diagnostic information made available by Apple is governed by Apple's own policies and developer tools.
12. Children's Privacy
GlossPage is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Because the App does not require account creation and does not ask users to provide personal information, we do not knowingly collect child account data. If a parent or guardian believes that a child has provided personal information through a support request, please contact us at [email protected] and we will address the concern.
For users in the European Union, where the minimum age of digital consent may be higher depending on the member state, we apply the same principle: the App does not require an account and does not ask users to provide personal information.
13. Your Rights
Where applicable under law, you may have the right to:
- Request access to personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Request deletion of personal data we hold about you
- Request a copy of your personal data in a portable format
- Object to certain processing based on legitimate interests
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. Because GlossPage does not use accounts or maintain a user database, we may have limited information to identify or retrieve. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
14. GDPR Information for European Users
GlossPage is operated from Austria and is subject to the General Data Protection Regulation where it applies.
Legal bases for processing:
- Online Translation, StoreKit authentication, Welcome Pass authentication, quota metering, and subscription verification: performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, because the processing is needed to provide the feature or service you request.
- Support requests: legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, because we need to respond to user questions and resolve technical or privacy issues.
- Crash and diagnostic information: legitimate interests, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, because we have a legitimate interest in maintaining a stable and secure App.
- Legal compliance: legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR, where processing is required by applicable law.
International transfers: Some Online Translation or infrastructure providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we use providers that offer appropriate transfer safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, adequacy-based transfer mechanisms, or other lawful mechanisms under GDPR.
Right to lodge a complaint: If you believe your data protection rights have been violated, you may lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Austria, this is the Datenschutzbehörde at dsb.gv.at.
15. California Privacy Information
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not use advertising identifiers, tracking cookies, or profiling for advertising purposes.
California residents may have rights to know, access, correct, delete, and opt out of certain uses of personal information, subject to applicable legal requirements. Because GlossPage does not use accounts and does not maintain a user profile database, we may have limited information to provide in response to a request.
To exercise privacy rights, contact us at [email protected].
16. Do Not Track
GlossPage does not track users across third-party websites or online services. Because we do not engage in this type of tracking, the App does not respond to "Do Not Track" browser or device signals.
17. Security
Network communications for Online Translation and support links use HTTPS where applicable. We minimise the amount of data processed by defaulting to on-device OCR and translation and by sending recognised text blocks, not source images or PDFs, for Online Translation. We do not operate a user account database.
18. Links to Other Services
The App may interact with third-party services, such as Online Translation providers, infrastructure providers, email providers, and the Apple App Store. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies and processing terms.
19. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, provide notice in the App. Changes are effective when posted.
